Homelessness | How Do You Respond?

Mother. Minister. High school student. Technical engineer. Accounting professional. Have you ever really thought about what someone who is homeless looks like, where they might sleep, or what they eat? They may not be who you expected. The Homeless Coalition of Hillsborough County and Hyde Park Methodist Church have come together to give a real face to our “Unexpected” Neighbors. Join us on June 15th at 6:30, to become more educated, learn about the coordination of services and find out how you can help us lead the community to assist the more than 17,000 homeless men, women and children in our community.

Florida Coalition for the Homeless - ACTION ALERT - CALL ASAP

ACTION ALERT - CALL ASAP

SADOWSKI HOUSING TRUST FUND STILL IN JEOPARDY

House and Senate Conferees are making decisions today. Please pick up the phone as soon as you get this email- contact the offices of the following legislators before NOON today with the following message:

I URGE YOU NOT TO PERMANENTLY REDIRECT THE SADOWSKI HOUSING TRUST FUND DOCUMENTARY STAMP TAX REVENUE INTO GENERAL REVENUE (SB 2154) OR THE PROPOSED SEED TRUST FUND (HB 7205, 7207)

Contact info is below.

Background for you information:

• Section 1 in SB 2154 would permanently redirect doc stamp revenue from the Sadowski Trust Funds to General Revenue. The Legislature does not need to do this in order to use housing trust money to balance the budget.
• HB 7205and 7207 (known as The SEED proposal) is the 'Super Trust Fund' in the House comprised of affordable housing, transportation and other trust fund monies. It permanently redirects doc stamps from the Housing Trust Funds to the SEED Trust Fund. The SEED proposal will make it more difficult politically for the Legislature to balance the budget because it would be easier to sweep the trust funds as they exist now for GR expenditures.

Florida Coalition for the Homeless

Watch the Florida Coalition for the Homeless Video! Let's wake up Governor Scott and the Florida Legislature! No more homeless children in Florida!

Wednesday, March 9, 2011

To those who have already completed the 2011 Homeless Count Survey - Thank you.

There is still time for everyone who has not completed the survey to do so. Your input is valued and needed by the Coalition staff to improve the experience and process for the 2013 Homeless Count.

Please take a few minutes to let us know what worked and what didn't, and offer suggestions on how to make the count better.

Thanks you again to all our volunteers! We couldn't do the Homeless Count without you!
